In answer to your question, have we given up on our Democracy. I have not. Here is one reason why.
Way back when I was in high school, I wrote a paper utilizing the pendulum to describe voting patterns. In college, after more research, I recreated that paper. Here is the bottom line … no matter how far right or how far left our voting, reporting of it, swings, on the whole the pendulum of it is mostly in the middle, and only slightly askew each way … I say, believe in the majority, no matter their political leanings, in the end, the people save us from the extremes.
